The problem was actually solved, but users apparently cannot find the function to effectively switch off the trailers that start in Netflix autoplay. A new update should now help better.

As a subscription-based streaming service, Netflix relies on its users to stick with it and stream more and more. To achieve this, the Californian provider of films and series relies on strategies that sometimes overshoot the mark. One of these particularly annoying measures is expressed in Netflix autoplay. This means the automatically starting trailers as soon as you pause briefly over a title to look at the picture or to examine the title and the table of contents for your favor. But that should soon be a thing of the past.

Netflix wants to keep its users on its platform for as long as possible. That is why binge-watching is made easier, among other things, with the fact that, in the case of series, it automatically plays the next episode immediately after the end of an episode – after a short countdown has elapsed. However, this is not to everyone’s taste. We explain how to deactivate the function called post-play.

The autoplay function is actually available on all Netflix-enabled devices – whether it’s a smart TV app, PC, Android smartphone, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Chromecast, PS4 or Xbox One. Netflix offers corresponding playback options in the account settings so that the user does not have to make the desired settings on all devices individually.

Unfortunately, these are a bit hidden. You can deactivate the automatic playback of the next episode there as follows.

How do I turn off autoplay on Netflix?

netflix-autoplay-settings

Navigate to netflix.com in your browser
Log in with your account
In the drop-down menu at the top right click on ” Account
Under ” My Profile ” click on ” Playback Settings
Under ” Autoplay settings “, remove the checkmark for ” Automatically play the next episode of a series on all devices
Click on “Save
Complete!

From now on, Netflix should no longer start the next episode at the end of a series episode on all devices that you use with this Netflix profile. If you want to reactivate Autoplay, simply tick the appropriate box again.
